Know what you want

Do you ever feel misunderstood by AI models?

I do.

When that happens, I usually think, "You're so smart. So why don't you get it?"

I realized it tends to occur when I'm not being clear. I can express myself, but I don't really know what I want. I sit there talking like something magic will happen, but it doesn't work like that.

There are so many directions an AI model can take in a conversation. So if you don't guide it, it will go anywhere.

Sometimes it will give you what you want, but you won't see it because you don't know what you're looking for.

Without realizing it, you're asking the AI to guess your intent. But what do you want?

You could have thought about it first. But you didn't because it takes time and effort. Not the few seconds it takes a model to produce a ton of content.

I came to the conclusion that my only job, when talking to AI, is to know what I want.

It reminds me of Arnold Schwarzenegger ↗'s line:

The most important thing is that you have a vision, that you have a goal. Because without that vision, without that goal, again you're drifting around, and you're never going to end up anywhere.

Do you relate to this?
